The owner of the Rubber Stamp Champ, Mike, had been trying to sell online since he and his wife had bought the little stamp shop a year earlier, because it just made sense to sell rubber stamps, self inking stamps, pre inked stamps and daters to the whole United States rather than just San Marcos, as there are a lot more people in the United States as a whole.  Mike and Sheree also had a concept where they wanted to sell at wholesale prices to the general public, but first they need to reach the general public…again an expensive proposition and way too expensive for the fledgling little company.

Mike had found a company online called go2 who ran what was then the fledgling pay per click or pay per search industry, because he had noticed that not only did AOL, the only operative search engine at the time, not only did AOL not rank his makeshift little site quickly, they basically did not rank it at all…so he wanted to quit leaving that up to whatever goofy group it was that AOL had doing that, and wanted instead to have his rubber stamp site appear at the top in what were called sponsored links, and he finally found out how to get there when he discovered the company called go2, which eventually became Overture, and then Yahoo!….and which really spawned also the entire giant ppc business run by Google.
